Obituary

Ronnie Louis “Skip” Brogan aged 75 of Crow, WV passed away on October 20, 2026, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, WV after a brief illness.

Born on April 24, 1951 in Crow, Skip was the son of the late James E. Brogan and Margaret Ann Puskas Brogan both of Crow. He graduated from West Technical High School in Cleveland, OH in 1969 and entered the U.S. Navy, serving in the Vietnam War. After moving back to WV in the late 1980’s he worked for Harvey Cabinets in Beckley, WV.

Known to family as Skip, he loved to fish and was often out in the waters of the New River with beloved uncle Louis Puskas, Jr. Skip passed his love of the outdoors and secret fishing holes in southern WV on to other family and friends as well. He was an excellent carpenter and could often be found in his woodshop. Although not well known outside of family, he had a talent for art. He loved watching episodes of Bob Ross and working with oil paints and did excellent pencil drawings. Often, he combined his carpentry skills with his artistic ability and made furniture and gifts for family and friends. Skip loved his family and was a caregiver to his mom and dad in their later years and a reliable help to his Aunt Cookie.

Skip was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Blaine Brogan.

Those survivors left to cherish his memory include an aunt Helen Puskas Gross and husband Tom of Crow, aunt Nellie Puskas of Daniels and cousins Myra Henderson, and Anna McClanaha (Paul) both of Nashville, TN, Erin Lilly (Joie) of Fairmont, WV, Ryan Lilly (Sheryl) of Kansas City, MO, Kim Gross of Grandview, Nikki Gross (Tom Springer) of Opelika, AL, and Sandy Kay Elmore of Daniels.

A service celebrating Skip’s life will be held at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum, Beckley, WV on Tuesday, October 27, 2026 at 2 PM. Burial will follow at the cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 1 PM until service time on Tuesday at the mausoleum.
