Ross Herron, 66, of Coal City WV passed away on December 15, 2025.
Born to the late Virginia and Odell Herron, Ross was a loving brother, devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose family meant everything to him.
Ross spent many years working as a coal miner, a job that demanded strength and dedication. He enjoyed life's simple pleasures, including Westerns, playing pool, watching football, spending time with animals—especially his dog, Woody—and his fondness for LongHorn Longcut Natural (snuff). Those who knew Ross remember him as dependable and someone who expressed his love through action.
Those left to cherish his memory include: his wife of 47 years, Patricia Herron; his siblings, Curtis Herron and his wife Tammy Herron and Mary Alice Austin and her husband Larry Austin; his children, Tabitha Smith and her husband William Smith and Anthony Herron and his wife Ashley Herron; and his grandchildren, Jacob Mullins and his wife Nicole Mullins, Noah Herron, and Hannah Herron.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Zachary Mullins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 11 AM at the Amos E. Quesenberry Peace Chapel of Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, Beckley, WV with Rev. Ken Souder officiating. Burial will at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family from 10 AM until service time on Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Mullins, William Smith, Addison Frame, Jared Cannady, Isaiah Smith, Robert James, Noah Herron, and Jason James.
Ross will be fondly remembered for his quiet strength, devotion to his family, and the life he built through hard work, love, and the simple joys that made him who he was.
