Roy Daniel Adkins

Roy Daniel Adkins, age 75, of Crow, WV passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born on April 3, 1948 at Crow, he was the son of the late Dorsey Adkins and Geneva Letha Lilly Adkins.

Mr. Adkins was a US Army Veteran, serving his country during the Vietnam Conflict. While in the service, He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Army Commendation Medal. He had also worked as warehouse manager for furniture stores in the area, and had worked as a security guard.

He was of the primitive Baptist faith, and had been involved with the Shade Tree Car Club. Mr. Adkins enjoyed his 1966 Chevrolet truck, and loved hunting when health allowed. Mr. Adkins was preceded in death by his parents, and one great grandchild, Jacob Lilly.

Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his loving wife Belva Gay Adkins; four children,  Rodney Adkins and wife Suzanne of Florida, Michael Lilly and wife Mariana of San Antonio, Texas, Tammy Salvatore and husband Anthony of Ghent, and William Lilly and wife Stephanie of Beckley. Three brothers, Ray Adkins and wife Sue of Prosperity, Ronnie Adkins of Prosperity, and Roger Adkins and wife Tammie of Crow; three sisters Rosa Pack of Ronceverte, Regina Meador and husband Dannie of Jumping Branch, and Rita Youkers and husband Bill of Fayetteville, NC. 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, Shady Spring Chapel on Monday, March 4, 2024 at 1 PM with Elder Tommy Pack and Elder Joe Blevins officiating. Burial will follow at the Redden Cemetery at Crow.  Friends may visit with the family from 6 PM until 9 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Colton Plumley, Logan Plumley, Eric Adkins, Seth Radford, Bill King, and Anthony Salvatore.

Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard.
