Ruby Alice Akers

Ruby Alice Akers, age 84, of Beaver, WV passed away at her home on Sunday, November 12, 2023.

Born on September 6, 1939 in Beckley, she was the daughter of the late Mason Darlington and Hucie Mann Darlington.

Mrs. Akers had worked in the office department of Schewel's Furniture Store and held membership at Tilden Community Church on Sullivan Road.

She loved collecting dolls and feeding wild birds. Her granddaughter and great grandchildren were the joy of her life.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Akers was preceded in death by her husband Bernard Akers; by sisters, Shirley Peters, Susie Darlington and Patty Cannon.

Those survivors left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Jennifer Runyon and husband Ricky of Beaver; a brother Ralph Darlington and wife Tomi Peck Darlington of Beckley; a granddaughter Heather Fogus and her husband Josh of White Sulphur Springs; three great grandchildren, Hallie Nevaeh,  Raylan Russell, and Ryker James; her special family and friend who was her caregiver, Dianna Summers Richards.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 2 PM with Pastor Ronnie Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley. Friends may visit with the family from noon until service time on Thursday at the funeral home.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
