Ruby Esther Meadows

Ruby Esther Meadows, age 95, of Pluto Road, Shady Spring, WV passed away at her home on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on September 25, 1930 at Farley’s Creek, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Kincaid and Virgie Bennett Kincaid.

Mrs. Meadows was a homemaker, and was of the Baptist faith. When health allowed, she enjoyed walking and gardening her flowers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James H. Meadows on July 5, 1968; a son Christie H. Meadows on July 6, 2004; by sisters Ethel Bowles, Edith Goodson, and Ellath Curtis; a brother Clarence Kincaid.

Those survivors left to cherish her memory include a son Darren Meadows and wife Charlene of Pluto Road, Shady Spring; three grandchildren, Christy Ann Meadows, Amanda Meadows Ashley, and James J. Meadows; 2 great grandchildren, Jaxon and Addison Meadows: a daughter-in-law, Ruth Vest Meadows of Pluto Road, Shady Spring; a sister Nellie Meadows of Beckley. Several nieces and nephews, including a special niece Carol Bowles Adkins.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Amos E. Quesenberry Chapel of Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel at Shady Spring, WV on Friday, July 10, 2026 at 1:00 PM, with Pastor David Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley, WV. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services on Friday at the funeral home. 

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. 

The family extends special thanks to Hospice of Southern WV for the excellent care given to Mrs. Meadows.
