Russell Phillip Burgess

Russell Phillip Burgess, age 87, of White Sulphur Springs, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2025. Born June 22, 1937, he was the son of Chris and Nonearl (Miller) Burgess, and one of eight children. Russell graduated from Clear Creek High School in 1955, and was a United States Army veteran. He worked for many years in the manufacturing and mining industries as a UMWA member before retiring in 1999.

Russell enjoyed vegetable gardening, taking care of his beloved cats, harvesting ginseng, expanding his gun collection, following NASCAR, working on his cars, and spending time with family and friends.

Russell is survived by his sister, Connie Burgess; children, Russell Phillip Burgess II (Shelly) of Virginia and Lucinda Rauback (John) of Florida; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven siblings, and daughter, Sherry.

Visitation will be held at the Beckley Peace Chapel on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Entombment will take place at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Faith Mausoleum.
