Russell (Rusty) Delano Bolen Jr., born July 17, 1957, to the late Russell Delano Bolen Sr. and Betty Todd Blevins, passed away peacefully and loved in the arms of his sons and presence of his loved ones at 12:04 pm on Monday, September 14, 2026, at the age of 69 years, 1 month, and 28 days after a long battle with illness.
Rusty dedicated many years of hard work to the City of Beckley. First and foremost, he loved spending time with his family. He was also a man of deep faith who loved reading his Bible and talking about the Lord. On weekends, he could often be found cheering on his favorite team, Notre Dame football. Rusty left an everlasting impression on anyone he met, was such a kind soul, and he will forever be cherished by those who knew him.
He was preceded in death by many family members, including a son, John Perdue.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory one daughter, Heather Eagle, of Beckley, WV; four sons: Nathan McDowell, and partner Eryn of Crab Orchard WV; Brenton McDowell, and partner Katelyn of Crab Orchard WV; Austin McDowell, and family of Stanaford WV; and Charles (Kevin) McDowell, and wife Abby of Glen White, WV; two brothers: Mike Bolen and wife Debbie of Coal City WV; and Larry Bolen and wife Sherri of Spencer NC; He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, best friend JoAnne Bailey of Hanover WV and his special friend and mother of his children, Lisa McDowell of Crab Orchard WV.
Funeral services will be held at the Amos E. Quesenberry Peace Chapel of Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, Beckley at 2 PM on Monday, September 21, 2026 with Rev. Kevin McDowell and Pastor Jesse Farley officiating. Burial will follow at Thompson Cemetery, Coal City, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 1 PM until service time on Monday at the funeral home.
