Sammy (Sam) Bonifacio, age 79, of Jacksonville, FL, formerly of Beckley, WV went home to our Lord and Savior after a courageous battle with cancer on March 16, 2026.
Born on December 22, 1946, he was the son of the late Julius and Leona Bonifacio.
Sam was a graduate of Morris Harvey College and received a Master's from Marshall University. He served in the US Army (2 years) and the WV National Guard (4 years). Sam retired from the Social Security Administration after 34 years of service.
He was a member of Restoration Church in Jacksonville, FL for the last 10 years and was a former member of Mountain View Church of God, Hill Top, WV for 47 years. He loved reading and studying God's word. He loved the Lord and believed in the power of prayer. He enjoyed gardening, learning about science and history.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Michael Bonifacio, and his grandparents.
Sam is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Betty Bonifacio; two daughters, Sue Ann Bonifacio of Jacksonville, FL and Jennifer (Jon) Simms of Arden, NC; grandchildren, Sebastian and Maple Simms; two brothers, Tom (Terri) Bonifacio of Clermont, FL, and Richard (Teresa) Bonifacio of Scarbro, WV and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Amos E. Quesenberry Peace Chapel of Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, Beckley, WV on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at 1 PM with Bishop John Morgan from Restoration Church officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 11 AM until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Foundation of Community Hospice & Palliative Care (memorials.TheFoundationCares.org) 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257 in memory of Sammy Bonifacio.
