It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sandra Sanderson Fraley on December 5, 2024, at age 82. Sandra was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, sister and friend.
Sandra was a native and resident of Shady Spring, WV where she was born to Edith and Edward Sanderson on September 23, 1942. She graduated from Shady Spring High School in 1960 as salutatorian of her class. Sandra worked as a bookkeeper for a local bank and the Coca Cola Bottling Company in Beckley, WV, and later for Cline Distributing Company in Mabscott, WV. After raising her four children, she worked as church secretary for Perry Memorial United Methodist Church in Shady Spring for almost 20 years.
Sandra was a skilled musician and dedicated over 40 years to serving as a church organist and pianist at Perry Memorial United Methodist Church. Known for her devotion to her church, she volunteered tirelessly with the church women's group and education programs. She loved growing violets and peonies and cooking for her family and church.
Sandra was married to Jim Fraley who preceded her in death in 1996. She is survived by her brother, John Sanderson of Manassas, VA, and her four children, Anita Fraley Flowers and her husband Don of Kernersville, NC; Craig Fraley and his wife Colleen of Newport, TN; Philip Fraley and his wife Lisa of Huntington, WV; and Danny Fraley and his wife Tina of Daniels, WV. Sandra loved her twelve grandchildren: Amanda Fraley, Andrea Janota, John Janota, Matthew Janota, Alison Flowers Hollis, Savannah Flowers Hnatow, TJ Adkins, Bret Adkins, Holly Adkins Patterson, Ryen Fraley, Ethan Fraley, and Reese Fraley and especially enjoyed her seven great-grandchildren: Bryson Adkins, Levi Adkins, Joselyn Harvey, Beau Hollis, Magnus Hnatow, John Janota, Jr, and Rosie Hollis.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Perry Memorial United Methodist Church, 202 Livingston St., PO Box 1264, Shady Spring, WV 25918 or at https://perrymemorialumc.org .
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 10, at 2:00 pm. at the Perry Memorial United Methodist Church, 202 Livingston Street, Shady Spring, WV. The family will greet friends from 12:00 pm-1:45 pm at the church.
