Sebert "Phil" Philip Cook

Sebert Philip Cook, age 77, of Beckley, WV, formerly of Glen Daniel, WV went home to be with  the Lord on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at CAMC Memorial Division,  following a long illness.

He was born to parents, Arland and Thelma Cook, on May 24, 1948 in Verdunville, WV, in Logan County.

Phil was a US Army Veteran, having been a recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He served his country during the Vietnam Conflict, and was a retired local coal miner with 40 years of service.

Phil had worked at the Ford Motor Plant in Detroit, Michigan before moving back to West Virginia.

Phil attended Bethel Freewill Baptist Church at MacArthur, WV, and enjoyed gardening. He loved fishing and spending time outdoors with his grandsons. Phil enjoyed being a devoted grandfather to all of his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Cook, and by his brother Carl Cook.

Those survivors left to cherish his memories include his wife of 34 years, the love of his life,  Melinda Tilley Cook; three daughters, Angel Cook (Dewayne), Kayla Cantley (Roger), and Mandy LeNoir (Jason); four grandsons, Hunter, Talon, Dustin, and Elijah; three granddaughters, Savana, Mariah, and Trista; two great grandchildren, Marleigh and Myleigh; one sister, Nell Brown; special niece Sissy and special great niece Hannah.

A Celebration of a " Life Well Lived"  for Sebert Philip Cook will be held at the Amos E. Quesenberry Peace Chapel of Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home in Beckley, WV on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Gary Mills officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 AM until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home. A Private Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley.

Pallbearers will be Hunter Cantley, Talon Cantley, Dustin Daniel, Roger Cantley, Jason LeNoir, Elijah LeNoir, and Dewayne Marion.

Military Rites will be provided by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard.
