Shirley Diane Young

Shirley Diane Young, age 72, of Cool Ridge, WV went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 20, 2024 at her home.

Born on July 29, 1951 in Beckley, she was the daughter of the late Lundy Winston Mills and Virginia Brewer Mills.

Mrs. Young was a homemaker, and a member of the Cool Ridge Freewill Baptist Church. She was well known for homemade biscuits, pizza, and she also loved to collect Coca Cola items.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Douglas Mills.

Those survivors left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of nearly 24 years, Walter Lewis "Butch" Young;  her children, Michelle Sturgill of Salisbury, NC, and Alisha Sturgill of Fort Mill, SC; step children Heather Young of Williamsburg, VA, and Amanda Young of Monroeton, PA; grandchildren Isaac Crawford of Spring, TX, Trey Sturgill of Concord, NC, Caleb Hannah of Fort Mill, SC, Alex Cruz of Salisbury, NC, and Haleigh McKean of Monroeton, PA; great grandchildren Tristen Crawford and Maxwell Crawford, both of Spring, TX. Sisters, Audrey Daniels of Maple Fork, WV, Nancy Gilbert of Fort Worth, TX, and Rose Stewart of Fort Myers, Florida; a very special friend Nancy Sturgill of Crow, WV.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Cool Ridge Freewill Baptist Church on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at 11AM with Rev. Jim Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV.  Friends may visit with the family from 6 PM until 9 PM on Wednesday at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home at Shady Spring, and also one hour prior to the services at the church.

Grandsons and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Tom Ward.
