Shirley Jean Richmond, age 79, of Pluto Road, Shady Spring, WV passed away at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, WV on Tuesday, March 31, 2026.
Born on November 25, 1946 at Pluto, WV, she was the daughter of the late Jeff Bennett and Lottie Ballengee Bennett.
Mrs. Richmond was a graduate of Richmond District High School. She had worked at the Bank of Raleigh in Beckley, and retired from the Beaver Post Office as a clerk, previously working at the Shady Spring Post Office. Mrs. Richmond was a member of White Oak Missionary Baptist Church, and faithfully attended Pluto Missionary Baptist Church for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Bennett; a sister Betty Bennett, and a grandson Mason Furrow.
Those survivors left to cherish her memory include her husband of 56 years, Dale Richmond; her children, Chris Richmond and wife Vicky of Shady Spring, and Jamie Furrow and husband Ron of Shady Spring; grandchildren, Christian Runion, Keith and his wife Kaye Richmond, Michael Furrow and fiancé Aliyah Gwinn, and Jaden Richmond; great grandchildren, Bryson, Levi, Makayla, and Raelynn Runion, Isaiah and Xander Richmond. A brother Jerry Bennett of Abraham. She also leaves behind her special pet, Gizmo.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Amos E. Quesenberry Peace Chapel of Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home in Beckley, WV on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Tim Dillon officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family from noon until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Alvin Meador, Ron Furrow, Michael Furrow, Clyde Norman, Richard Ballengee and Lenzie Bennett.
