Steven Dale Bolen, age 71, of Odd, WV passed away after a short illness on Saturday, March 30, 2024.
Born on April 1, 1952 in Mullens, he was the son of the late Wilford Ray Bolen and Roxy Dot Summers Bolen.
Mr. Bolen was preceded in death by both parents, Wilford and Roxy Bolen; two brothers Joe and Danny Ray Bolen; a sister Betty Lilly, and also his eldest son Steven Ray Gales.
Steven was previously employed by the mines in Rhodell, where he transported coal. Due to an injury, Steven became disabled and retired at home. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, as he watched them all grow and prosper. He had a huge passion for gardening, growing vegetables and flowers. He was an avid mushroom hunter as well.
One of his favorite pass-times was driving through the scenic country roads. He was a collector of nick-nacks; for each item was special and held a wonderful memory. He had a special talent for anything mechanical and auto rebuilds. Steven enjoyed 15 years with his loyal companion Princess his Chihuahua.
Later in life Steven developed a personal relationship with our Lord. Daily his faith, trust and love grew for Jesus Christ.
Steven was a kind and gentle soul. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all that knew him.
He is survived by his four children, Crystal Helton (Timothy) of Winston-Salem, NC, Felix Gales of Mead, WV, Jennifer Fuller (Nick) of Sophia, WV., Becky Plumley (Brandon) of Mead, WV. Three brothers, Rev. Charlie Bolen (Ruth), Roy Bolen and David "Hoss" Bolen (Trish); three sisters, Emma Mae Hambrick, Dreama Lilly and Dottie Lilly.13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, as well as his twenty year companion, Mary Helems of Beaver, WV.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at 8 PM with Pastor Nick White officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 7 PM until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. A private burial will be held at the House of Prayer Cemetery at Mitchell's Ridge, WV on Thursday morning.
