Susanne "Sue" Florence Mehta, 79, of Beckley, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on November 12, 1946, in Blue Jay, West Virginia, Sue was the daughter of the late Noble TrueHart Lykins and Eva Mae Richmond Lykins.
Sue devoted many years of her life to caring for others as a Licensed Practical Nurse, with her final years of nursing spent in New York. Her compassionate spirit and servant's heart were evident not only in her profession but in the way she lived each day.
She attended the former Daniels Wesleyan Church and cherished her Christian faith above all else. Sue found joy in life's simple blessings—tending her flower gardens, spending time with family, and reminiscing about childhood memories of sitting on the front porch of her parents' home, watching her cousins play, laughing, and sharing stories. Above all, she loved the Lord and treasured her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose love and faith left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rasik Bhaichand Mehta; her cherished daughter, Priti Mehta; four brothers, Kenneth Lykins, Michael Lykins, Randy Lykins, and Jimmy Lykins; and one sister, Lavina Bragg.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Jay Mehta of Beckley; daughter, Neeta Mehta of Beckley, daughter, Sujata Mehta-Looney and husband, Seth, of Clemmons, North Carolina; her brother, Danny Lykins and wife, Cheryl, of Haymarket, Virginia; and her four beloved grandchildren, Lila Riffe and husband, Jared, of Shady Spring, Sanjaya Mehta of Beckley, and Hayden and Jaxon Looney of Clemmons, North Carolina. She also leaves behind several loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure her memory.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at the Amos E. Quesenberry Peace Chapel of Rose & Quesenberry Funeral Home in Beckley, with Pastor Luke Richmond officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Prosperity, West Virginia.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Seth Looney, Hayden Looney, Jaxon Looney, Randall Lykins, Ronnie Cooper, and Doug Bragg. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Lykins and Jay Mehta.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of Bowers Hospice House for the exceptional care, kindness, and comfort they provided during Sue's final days.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, West Virginia, in Sue's memory.
