Terrell "Terry" Dwight Hicks

Terrell Dwight Hicks, age 80, of Daniels, WV suffered a tragic incident Monday, February 16, 2026.

He was born to Reva Mae Hicks and Luther "Steve" Hicks in Cleveland, Ohio on Flag Day, June 14, 1945.

He graduated from Duval High School in June of 1963, he would always joke about how long he waited for Teresa as she was born in 1963, but they were a match made in heaven and God granted them the blessing of spending their last weekend together at Pipestem where he out danced her

After high school he spent a while at business school, but that was not his calling. He did come away with a lifelong friend of G.P Smith. He spent 43 years with the International Brotherhood of Electrical workers IBEW Local 466 in Charleston, WV. Terry was also a member of the Army National Guard.

There was no one that could comprehend the way he deeply cared for each person he met. He was empathetic and generally wanted to help if he could. He loved to joke and cut up with everyone he met. This man truly never met a stranger, and yes that did make the wait longer in the line on some nights, but he cared and wanted to hear about your life, your day, or whatever you needed his ear for. He was a source of endless love and laughter.  His witty sense of humor, warm smile, and overall kindness touched the lives of all who knew him.  He would always come home late from work, but he never one time missed reading his bible on his knees with his lord at his bedside.

Terry leaves behind a wife that will forever cherish him and miss him beyond words. For 33 and half years he has been her helpmate as God intended. Her best friend and love of her life. Whatever adventure she thought of, he was up for it.  He has also been raising his granddaughter as his daughter Mireya Hicks since she was 4. He was so proud of her and was about to see her graduate and go to college. He was the only dad she ever knew as they had the most special bond, TUDORS! They teamed up on Teresa to make excuses to go there a lot!

Also, left to cherish his memory are his daughters Charlene Breeden and Robyn Thornburg, and the children he had through marriage as he raised them as his own: Jeremy Angell, Miranda Hill, Jessalyn Angell. Through these children he has 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

We also want to give a huge Thank You to the Glade Community and staff as they have come together to support his family above and beyond.  Another special thanks to the Shady Spring High School Swim team for all the support and love they have given. We wish that he could see how much everyone loved him.
