Theda Opal Fox, age 84, of Layland, WV went to be with the Lord and left the love of her life of 64 years, Thurl Ray Fox on Sunday, August 4, 2024.

Born on May 7, 1940 at Abraham, WV she was the daughter of the late Orda and Leona Bennett.

She was a loyal member of the Chestnut Knob Baptist Church at Layland, WV where she enjoyed working there for over 40 years.

Theda enjoyed and loved planting flowers with her loving husband Ray while watching hummingbirds and butterflies. She also loved canning all the wonderful vegetables from their garden and feeding the cows. She enjoyed traveling with Ray to job sites and seeing new places together. Another favorite past time was going on vacation to Pigeon Forge, TN and Dollywood with her husband Ray.

Spending time with all her grandchildren and great grandchildren was such a joy to her. She made sure to get a picture of her holding every baby in the family for her albums.

Theda had a heart of gold and with her kindness she would help anyone in need. She was a loving and wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by a daughter Patty Fox Wickline and siblings, Geneva Bennett, Mogene Harsh, Myrtle Nugen, Reo, Arlo, Roy and Ernest Bennett.

Survivors left to cherish her memory include her daughter Lisa Fox Buffington (Bill), grandchildren, Phillip and Anthony Wickline and David Buffington. Great Grandchildren, Alex Walker, Emily, Katie, Justin and Brittney Wickline. Great great grandchildren, Anakin and Sophie Walker. Also, two sisters, Ethel Plumley and Wanda Glover.

Funeral services will be held at the Chestnut Knob Baptist Church, Layland, WV on Friday, August 9, 2024 at 2 PM with Pastor Floyd Bolen officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 12 PM until service time on Friday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, Theda requested donations to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
