Theodore Mitchem

Theodore Mitchem  age  98 of MacArthur, WV passed away Tuesday December 31, 2024 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV.

Born March 6, 1926 in Pageton, WV in McDowell County, he was the son of the late Allen S. Mitchem and Maudie Cooper Mitchem.

Mr. Mitchem was a retired coal miner with 31 years of service.  He was of the Baptist family who believed in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Mr. Mitchem was a World War II  United States Navy Veteran. Theodore loved his family and all of his pets.  He also enjoyed taking weekend rides with his daughter Rose.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Glenna Mae Meador Mitchem, and by eight brothers and three sisters.

Those left to cherish his memory include a son, Jimmy Lee Mitchem of MacArthur, WV., and a daughter, Rose Mary Mitchem of MacArthur, WV.

A sister, Danaze Greer Stamper and husband, Shay of Skygusty, WV; two brothers, Harry Mitchem and wife, Ann of Annawalt, WV,  and James "Ronnie" Mitchem of Northfork,  WV.  Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be  conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley, WV on Tuesday January 7, 2025 at 2 PM with Rev. Keith Manning officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV.

Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services on Tuesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
