Thomas "Tom" Theodore Mitsoyianis

Thomas "Tom" Theodore Mitsoyianis, 91, passed away May 12, 2025 at home.

He was born in Mullens, WV as the son of the late Xenophon and Catherine Pappas Mitsoyianis.

Tom graduated from Mullens High School in 1955, and received his Bachelor's Degree from Concord College, and his Master's Degree from West Virginia University. The Mitsoyianis family owned and operated restaurants in Mullens back in the good old days.

Tom served in the U.S.  Army after the Korean Conflict. He retired in 1989 from the State of West Virginia Dept. of Employment Security after serving 28 ½ years.

He is survived by his wife Patricia E. Miller Mitsoyianis, and daughter Stephanie Ann McGraw and husband Richard, along with grandsons Stephen Tyler, Samuel Todd, and Richard C. "Trey" McGraw. Other survivors are his sister, Irene Trowbridge of Paden City, WV, and her family, along with nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, and great grandson, Mason McGraw.

Tom enjoyed following his grandsons in their favorite sports, and was an avid sports fan on T.V.

He was a former member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Beckley and was a current member of St. John Greek Orthodox Church in Charleston, WV. He was also a member of Senior Friends at Raleigh General Hospital, and a member of American Legion Post #32 in Beckley.

Tom had a generous and compassionate heart, and a loving sense humor for his family and friends. He was a generous man by nature and was always willing to help a person in need. He was never too busy to give of himself, and to offer his guidance to family and friends. Tom was a man of few words but spoke in volumes. He blessed and enriched lives of many. Jamie Carr, Sue Phillips, Louis George, Charles Smith, Bud Thompson, John Cook, along with now deceased, Mack Phillips, were Tom's several dear friends. Theo and Lili (his fur babies) will miss visiting him.

A visitation will be held at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 16, 2025, with a funeral service beginning at 12:00 PM (noon) with The Very Rev. Father Samuel Haddad of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, and The Very Rev. Father Alex Williams of St. John Greek Orthodox Church officiating. Trisagion Prayers of Mercy and burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley, WV.

Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
