Travis James Markley

Travis James Markley, 45, passed away on January 17, 2026 after a short unexpected illness.

Travis was born in Billings, Montana in 1980; in 1984, his family moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where he spent the majority of his childhood. In 2019, he moved to West Virginia, and loved it so much, he said would never want to live anywhere else again. Travis loved animals, having multiple cats and dogs throughout his life; movies and tv, cooking, and video games.

Travis loved to learn new things. His career was a reflection of that, always advancing quickly in any position he was placed in. From working in the financial industry to his last position in cybersecurity, Travis would dive in and excel in his role.

He loved people. His generosity will not be forgotten. He was the type of man that would give everything he had to others and go without himself. Travis couldn't go anywhere and not make a new friend or make someone smile with his amazing sense of humor.

Travis is and will be deeply missed. He is survived by his parents, Monica and Jerry Kiser; Gordon and Nanci Markley; siblings Gary Markley, Candace and Doug Knight, Jill Markley, Laura Malcomson and Carrie Kiser; along with multiple nieces and nephews; and best friend of over 30 years, Jerry Fagen.

His celebration of life will be on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 2pm at Calvary Assembly of God, 1812 Harper Rd, Beckley, WV 25801.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: ALSAC/St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
