Victoria "Vickie" Lynn Halstead

Victoria "Vickie" Keesee Halstead was born on March 16, 1951, the youngest daughter of the late Richard Keesee, Sr., and Geneva "Janie" Wozniak Keesee, and the "baby sister" to her older siblings.

The family lived in Helen, WV. Victoria was always proud to have grown up in a small coal camp. She told stories often about being a cheerleader, friends at school and church, dancing at the Helen Grill and she adored time spent at Camp Thomas E. Lightfoot as well. In June 1963, Victoria, her widowed mother and younger brother moved to Beckley, WV. Her fondest memories were playing trumpet in the Beckley Junior High and Woodrow Wilson High School bands, making many life-long friends. At the age of 16, she married her high school sweetheart, Lester Halstead, and they had three children before his death in 1981.

Vickie was a hard worker. She sold Avon for 7 1/2 years, owned and operated the N&W Club in Sophia, worked as a CNA at Pine Lodge Nursing Home for over ten years, and was a private caregiver for several families in the area before her retirement. Vickie was a Cub Scout Den Mother for about nine years in the Shady Spring and Mabscott areas, was a former member of Victory Baptist Church and loved organizing family reunions and the Woodrow Wilson and Helen Secret Sisters.

Victoria was a kind person who valued family more than herself. She experienced a lot of loss; each family member who preceded her in death left a hole in her heart. It is understanding that mourning her own parents, the love of her life, her mother-in-law and father-in-law Zell and Charlie Halstead, oldest brother, Richard "Dickie" Keesee, big sister Deloras "Cookie" Vaught, and her "baby" brother Gary Keesee became too much for her heart to take. It stopped beating the morning of Tuesday, November 18, 2025, while she slept in her temporary bed at the Raleigh Center.

Those left to cherish her memory ar her only living sibling, Charles Keesee, her sister-in-law, Kathy Farley (Archie), her three children, Richard Halstead, Benny Halstead (Sarah), Christina Halstead (April) and their families, which include a host of grandchildren, and great grandchildren, lots of extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the Amos E. Quesenberry Peace Chapel of Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home in Beckley, WV on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at 1:00 PM.
