Vivian Ruth Skaggs

Vivian Ruth Skaggs, age 94, of Beaver, WV passed away Friday, July 25, 2025.

Born October 22,1930 at Blue Jay, WV Vivian was daughter of the late Herbert and Clarice McKinney Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilcie Skaggs, siblings Gladys Olsen, Hulda Vest, Betty Osborne, Orville "Sonny" Smith and Tommy Smith.

Those survivors left to cherish her memory include siblings, Tim Smith, Joe Smith, Francis Hart and Marilyn Waterbeck; a son Jerry Skaggs and his wife Mary of Wayne, N.J. Grandchildren include A.J. Skaggs and his wife Trish of Williamsburg, Va.; Jerry A. Skaggs of Little Rock, Ark.; Kim Schulte of Hopewell Junction, N.Y.; Dana Marrs and her husband Jerry of Prescott, AZ and John Aspromonte and his wife Bernadett of Franklin Lakes, N.J. Great-grandchildren include Kayleigh Skaggs, Madison Skaggs, Amanda Schulte, Jacob Schulte, John Aspromonte, Lili Aspromonte, Scott Marrs and Isaac Marrs; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

She was a member of the Perry Memorial United Methodist Church.

Vivian became a member at Perry in December 1995. She was President of United Methodist Women for several years. That meant she was also in charge of Perry's famous Egg factory which makes several thousand Easter Eggs each spring. Vivian & her sister Hulda were the first members at Perry to support & run a Food Closet. They had a small closet stacked with food to give to people who came to the church needing food. Vivian was a faithful supporter of Burlington House Family Services in Beckley. She volunteered at all their community events & encouraged Methodist Women to become involved. She has always been a teacher & mentor to members of United Methodist Women. As UMW president, Vivian could be counted on to support our Pastor in District activities and often hosted Pastor's Luncheons and meetings in the district. Vivian was always ready to be the hands and feet of Jesus at Perry and in the Community.

While residing in Ravenswood, she was a member of the City Council for four years, and she and her husband Wilcie served as Chairpersons of the Ohio River Festival for many years and had past served on the Board of the American Cancer Society and was president of Ravenswood Lioness Club. She also owned Vivian's Beauty salon for many years.

Funeral services will be conducted to Celebrate The Life Of Vivian Skaggs on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at 12:30 PM the Perry Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Crawford officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity.

Friends may make visit with the family at the church from 11 AM until service time on Wednesday.

Donations may be made in lieu of flowers, to the Perry Memorial United Methodist Church or to the Burlington House Family Services in memory of Mrs. Skaggs.

Pallbearers will be A.J. Skaggs, JJ Meadows, Marty Ashley, Charlie Smith, Danny Moye and Mike Riggs.
