Walter "Wally" Wallace Adkins

Walter Wallace Adkins, age 73, of Cool Ridge, WV passed away on Monday, October 13, 2025 at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital in Beckley, WV.

Born on February 14, 1952 at Seth, WV, he was the son of the late Clifford Adkins and Leona Moore Adkins.

Wally, or Gator, as he was affectionately known by his family and friends, was a retired coal truck driver, and coal miner.

He was a member of the UMWA, and was of the Freewill Baptist Faith. Wally enjoyed watching TV, camping, and collecting coins, and other miscellaneous items.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sons, Jonathan Matthew, and Jeffery Michael Adkins; grandson Jeffery Campbell; by siblings, Jimmy Adkins, Judy Sauter, Richard Gene Adkins, Steven Adkins, David Adkins, Betty Adkins, Sherry Nan Hager, and Jerry Adkins.

Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife of 28 years, Lora June Hager Adkins; children, Walter W. Adkins Jr. of Lewisburg, and Tabitha Nicole Adkins of Charleston; grandchildren Jacob Adkins-Wolfgong, Jessica Adkins, Charles  Nicholas Mullins, and Kaitlyn Mullins; a sister Jewell Kaetzel of Maryland.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Amos E. Quesenberry Funeral Chapel of Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home in Shady Spring, WV on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Orville Setliff officiating. Burial will follow at the Pineview Cemetery at Orgas, WV. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services on Thursday at the funeral home.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
