Warren Douglas
Shrewsberry
Nov 14, 1952 — Sep 5, 2026
On Saturday, September 5, 2026, Warren Douglas Shrewsberry finished his journey on earth after a short battle with cancer and began his new life in heaven.
Born November 14, 1952, he was the son of Warren Wintford Shrewsberry and Molly Naoma Reedy Shrewsberry.
Warren was a graduate of Stoco High School, class of 1970. He earned an associate degree from Beckley College where he met his loving wife of 39 years Shirley Kay Isom Shrewsberry. Warren and Shirley were married on May 26, 1972. Together they raised three sons, Anthony, Andrew, and Adam. Along the way, they took another son into their home for several years, Sidney Sullivan, so that he could complete his high school years at Shady Spring when his parents moved out of the area. On January 1, 2011, their lives were changed forever with the death of Shirley.
After some grieving and after the urging of his sons, Warren began dating again and met Fredia Lilly. They became very close and were married on January 14, 2015. With this union, Warren gained a new stepson, Jeff Lilly.
In his early years, Warren played football, baseball, and ran track for Stoco Junior High and Stoco High School. He also played in many softball leagues at Fitzpatrick Park after high school. Warren was employed as a meatcutter/butcher for the Kroger Company for 42 years until his retirement. He was a farmer his entire life working the farm he had grown up on between Ghent and West View, WV. He was a coach to his children and hundreds of Shady Spring little league youth and Babe Ruth league teams. He was also very active with the Shady Spring youth wrestling team and the Shady Spring Junior High and High School wrestling teams hauling groups of kids all over the country on Friday and Saturdays and over summer break for wrestling camps. He continued to do this until a few years ago.
Warren was a devout Christian and loved to sing for the Lord. He could also be found behind the pulpit spreading the word and performing funeral services in the community. He was a member of the Mountain Valley Baptist Church in Odd, WV.
Warren was preceded in death by his mother and father, Warren Wintford Shrewsberry and Molly Naoma Reedy Shrewsberry, and a sister Kathy Royster.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 11 years Fredia Lilly Shrewsberry of Shady Spring, brothers Harold Shrewsberry and wife Kwan-Hui of Front Royal, VA, Randy Shrewsberry and wife Vickie of Josephine, sisters Trilla Wills of Ghent, and Stacy Holt and husband Gary of Flat Top, Sons Anthony Shrewsberry of Ghent, Andrew Shrewsberry and wife Michelle of Daniels, Adam Shrewsberry and wife Heather of Ghent, Sidney Sullivan of South Carolina, and Jeff Lilly of Shady Spring.
