Waymon Guy Okes, Jr.

Waymon Guy Okes Jr., age 50, of Dunns, WV passed away at his home on Thursday March 21, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.

Born on April 17, 1973 in Hinton, he was the son of Waymon Guy Okes Sr. of Dunns, and Sharon Ferguson Cook of Flat Top, WV.

Waymon, as he was known by family and friends, was a former employee of Pipestem State Park, and before his illness was attending Mercer County Vo-Tech.  He was a member of Mountain Creek Missionary Baptist Church, and enjoyed woodworking, hunting, and loved to watch wrestling. Waymon loved all of his family very much.

He was preceded in death by a brother Robert Eugene Okes.

Other than his parents, those survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife of 31 years, Melinda Wyatt Okes;  his children, Robert Okes of Dunns, and Christina Estep and husband Dylan of Cool Ridge; three grandchildren,  Brynlee Estep, Paisley Estep, and Brayden Estep; special friend  Danny Adkins of Princeton. Several aunts and uncles also survive.

The family extends special thanks to Dr. Douvas and Compassus Hospice of Princeton, WV.

A visitation for family and friends to attend will be on Saturday, March 30, 2024 from 3 PM until 5 PM at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel, 729 Flat Top Road, Shady Spring, WV.
