William "Big Bud" Edward Stump Sr.

William "Big Bud" Edward Stump Sr., age 79, loving husband, father, papaw, and great papaw, was called home to Heaven on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley following a long illness.

Born November 10, 1942 at Fitzpatrick, WV, he was the son of the late Swanson and Carrie Smith Stump.

Bud was a retired coal miner, and veteran of the US Army. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time with his family, and Friday night card games. His most favorite time was sitting outside on his swing. He also loved watching his great grandchildren run and play, Bud loved family cookouts, and watching fireworks during the Fourth of July.

He was preceded in death by his late wife, Marth Stump; four brothers, Claude, Tommy, Gary, and Ted Stump. Four sisters, Virginia Parsons, Phyllis Prunest, Louise Pitzer, and Ina Miliam.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife of twelve years, Bonnie Shrewsbury Stump, sons Bud (Lovena) Stump of MacArthur and David Canaday of Crab Orchard, a daughter, Frances (Darrell) Alberty of Crab Orchard. Stepsons Clay (Patricia) Alberty of Crab Orchard and Jerry Alberty of Scarbro. Three granddaughters, Carrie Alberty, Kayla (Andrew) Treadway, and Alicia (Herbie) Cline. Six great grandchildren, Caiden, Benjamin, Herbie Jr., Dakota, Anna, and Damian. Bud was loved by a host of step grandchildren, great grandchildren, and extended family.

Funeral services will be held at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 2 PM with Rev. Jim Jarrell officiating. Friends may visit with the family from noon until time of services at the funeral home on Thursday. Burial will follow at Canady Cemetery in Crab Orchard. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
