William "Bill" Thomas Pilkington, Iii

William Thomas "Bill" Pilkington III, born December 20, 1944, in Beckley, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026, at his home in Glen Morgan, WV.

A graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, Bill went on to earn a degree in mechanical engineering from West Virginia University. He began his professional life working in the coal industry and later pursued additional career paths, including insurance sales and financial planning.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his dear son, Ryan Thomas Pilkington, and his three younger sisters: Arlena Hayden, Nancy Shrader, and Judy Snuffer.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Elizabeth Pilkington; Beckey Pilkington-Groover and her sons, James and Devin; and Alissa (Pilkington) Chambers, her husband Teddy, and their children Camden, Fisher, Asher, and Avery. He is also survived by his son, Marc Pilkington, his wife Sherrie, and their sons Jamie and Reece, as well as their loving mother, Debbie Ventura. Bill also held close in his heart his granddaughters Riley and Georgia Lee Pilkington, along with their loving mother, Michelle Bez. In addition to his immediate family, Bill is remembered fondly by many extended relatives, friends, and neighbors who will deeply miss him.

Bill's memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He was the kind of man who would help a friend or neighbor at a moment's notice, always offering kindness and support without hesitation. His presence made a lasting impact on those around him, and he will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

If you wish, in lieu of flowers, the family believes Bill would appreciate donations to Ryan's Rides, a mission created in memory of his son, Ryan, after his unexpected passing in March 2022. Ryan's Rides honors Ryan's passion for helping those in need by providing bicycles to employed individuals in and around the Beckley area to support their transportation needs. Donations can be made to St. Stephens Episcopal Church at 200 Virginia St. Beckley, WV 25801 with "Ryan's Rides" added to the memo or subject line.

A memorial service to celebrate Bill's life and legacy will be held at the Amos E. Quesenberry Peace Chapel of  Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, 1901 South Kanawha Street, Beckley, WV, on Friday, March 6, 2026 at 7 PM. Friends may visit with the family from from 6 PM until service time on Friday at the funeral home.
