Willie Lee Gibson

Willie Lee Gibson, age 76, of Coal City, WV passed away at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV on Sunday, November 2, 2025.

Born on October 11, 1949 in Pikeville, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Russell Gibson and Nettie Riddle Gibson.

Mr. Gibson was a retired coal truck driver, and was of  the Baptist faith. He was  a US Army Veteran, having served two Tours of Duty in Vietnam. Mr. Gibson enjoyed fishing in his spare time.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Diane Gibson; three brothers, Eddie, Junior and  Gary Gibson.

Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife of nearly 26 years, Kathy Jo Godbey Gibson; three sons, Russell Gibson of Virginia, Jason Schmidt and wife Kathy of Ohio, and Willie Lee Gibson II of Oceana; step children, Jeff Parker and wife Doreen of Beckley, and Rebecca Treadway and husband Frank of Fairdale; a brother Larry Gibson and wife Rita of Kentucky; four grandchildren, Hannah, Drayke, Alicia and Levi; four step grandchildren, Courtney, Ethan, Frank and Vince;  five step great grandchildren.

According to Mr. Gibson's personal wishes, no services will be held.
