Bernice Ella Lilly Epling Maynard

Bernice Ella Lilly Epling Maynard, age 93 from Cool Ridge, WV, currently
residing at 103 Boxwood Lane, Beaver, WV departed this life and joined the Lord
on Tuesday February 1, 2011 at 11:05 AM at the Beckley Appalachian Regional
Hospital in Beckley, WV following a short illness.
Born May 25, 1917 in Dunns, WV, she was the daughter of the late Clyde
Clarence Lilly and Nettie Zanza Akers Lilly.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first
husband, Carl Epling, her second husband Fayette Maynard, by grandsons, Michael
Skinner, Gerald Crawford, and Jerry Pack, a granddaughter Betty Epling, by
brothers, Cupie Clyde Lilly, and Jabe Fleming Lilly, by sisters Raymelle Grace
Sweeney, Norma Nell Ventura, and Laura Lee Alvis.
Those surviving to cherish her memories, are sons, Carl Clyde Epling
and his wife Joyce of Concord, NC, and Ernest Wayne Epling and his wife Martha
of Cool Ridge, WV.
Daughters, Anne Lois Pack of Beaver, WV, Juanita June Clark and her husband
Shelby of Wadsworth, Ohio, Bernice Elaine Lambilotte and her husband Gary of
Medina, Ohio, and Frances Lynn Crawford of Akron, Ohio. Her grandsons, Carl A. Epling, Steven E. Epling, Brandon Epling, Jeffrey
Skinner, Gordon Crawford, Gregory Crawford, and Glendon Crawford. Her
granddaughters , Carolyn Bates, Ruth Wines, Debra Duke , Doris Chambers, Terri
Minso, and Gretchen Crawford.
She survived by a sister, Marilyn Jo Austin of Ellicott City, Maryland, 26
great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, several nephews, nieces, extended
family, and friends also survive.
Mrs. Maynard was a native of Raleigh County all of her life, was of the
Baptist faith, and a member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Ghent. She was a
member of the AARP and a member of the Art Department of the Shady Spring
District Women's Club. She was a past board member of the infamous Lilly
Reunion. She was a retired teacher of 32 years at numerous schools in the
Mountain State. Mrs. Maynard enjoyed art, music, gardening, sewing, and poetry.
A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday February 5, 2011 at
2 PM at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel with Rev. Eric
Bates officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at
Prosperity, WV. Friends may call from 5 PM until 8 PM on Friday February 4,
2011 at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Bates, John Wines, Devon
Howdershelt, Jerry Waylon Pack, Steven Epling, and Rev. Eric Bates. Online
