Barbara E. Whittaker

Barbara E. Whittaker, age 68, of 437 Tommy Creek Road, Odd, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, at the St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington, following a short illness.

Born on Sept. 20, 1940, in White Gate, Va., she was the loving daughter of the late John Whittaker and Gracie Whittaker.

Ms. Whittaker was a homemaker and a lifelong member of the Goodhope Freewill Baptist Church in Odd.

She enjoyed going to church and on picnics and spending time with her loving family.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Emory Lee Whittaker and Michael Stevie Whittaker; two sisters, Madeline Whittaker and Aileen V. Whittaker; a brother-in-law, William Lowe; and two sisters-in-law, Janice K. Whittaker and Kimberly Whittaker.

Survivors include five brothers, Freddie Lee Whittaker and Danny Ray Whittaker, both at home, Larry Eugene Whittaker of Odd, Johnny Wade Whittaker and wife, Rosemary, of Helen and Kenneth Wayne Whittaker and his companion, Amber, of Lego; five sisters, Loraine Sue Whittaker and Betty Ann Whittaker, both at home, Nannie Lowe of Odd, Connie Jean Graham and husband, J.B., of Odd, and Judy Kay Acord and husband, Arnold, of Glen White; a special nephew, Timmy Allen Whittaker also of the home.

She will be sadly missed by family and friends and many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel with the Rev. David Collins and the Rev. Bob Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in the Whittaker Cemetery at Pearisburg, Va.

Friends may call one hour prior to the services Wednesday at the funeral home.
