Christopher Lee Kelley, age 18, of Epperly, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 14, 2016, following a tragic shooting. He was born on August 28, 1997, to the late Chrystal Kelley Nichols.
Christopher was a 2015 graduate of Independence High School, and was a member of Sunset Hills Missionary Baptist Church in Coal City. He enjoyed helping others and helping out at the church anyway that he could. Christopher was a boy who loved the Lord who just lost his way.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Sonny and Mae Kelley, and great-uncles Richard and Berthel Kelley.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sister Victoria "Tori" Nichols of Epperly, his stepdad Jody NIchols of Mabscott, his maternal grandparents, Richard and Victoria Nuzum of Epperly, Uncle David "D.J." Whitt and his aunt Marilyn McKinney of Epperly, Special great-aunt Gayle Smith of Daniels, great-aunt Patricia Vaughn of South Shore, Kentucky, and special cousin that he called Aunt, Robin Hatcher of Jonben. Numerous other uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at Sunset Hills Missionary Baptist Church on Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at 3 p.m. with Pastor Tim Mitchem officiating. Burial will follow at the Kelley Family Cemetery at Epperly Hill. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services on Tuesday at the church.
Pallbearers will be special friends of Chris: Patrick and Austin Fernatt, Darin Viars, Josh Welch, Chase Keaton, and Logan Woolweever. As Chris would have wanted, everyone that is attending the service is asked to wear bright colors or his favorite color of purple.
