Terry Wayne Farley

Terry Wayne Farley, age 70, of Beckley, WV traveled to his eternal home on Thursday, December 1, 2022.

Terry was a lover of life, people, and Jesus. To know him was to love him.  He gave the best hugs, sang the sweetest songs, told the silliest jokes, and wrote many life giving, encouraging words.  He was an excellent communicator, educator, leader, dreamer, father, grandfather, and the best story teller.

The joys of his life were his two children, Kari Cutshaw of Bunker Hill, WV and Jeremy Farley of Beckley, WV. He loved his two bonus children, Travis Cutshaw and Addy Farley, as his own.  He adored his four grandchildren; Ana, Judah, Joshua, and Zion Cutshaw, and his grand-doggy, Barkley.

He will be missed by his two best friends, confidants and heroes, Glenna Tudor and Mary Lou Blair, his sisters, with whom he shared an incredible bond.  He adored his nieces, nephews, his church family, and many friends near and far.

Terry was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie Farley of Sophia, WV, his father, Delbert Farley, of Sophia, WV, and his brothers-in-law Denny Blair of Cleveland, TN and John B. Tudor, of Beckley, WV.

Terry had many accomplishments in his lifetime.  He was a high school graduate of Sophia High School.  He graduated from Lee University, where he studied Elementary Education, Social Studies and Biblical Studies.  He received his M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Administration at Marshall University and received an honorary doctorate degree in Christian Education from New Covenant International Bible College.

Terry loved to advocate for children and was an educator and children's minister for over 50 years. He was a former elementary school teacher and principal in the public and private sector and Adult Ed. Coordinator for the Raleigh County Board of Education. He was a former published author and poet, standup comedian, motivational speaker, and recently began the Southern WV Inspirational Writers Association where he focused his time and energy on mentoring and encouraging other writers to use their God-given talents and follow their dreams.

He was active in his church and community and loved to visit his local library, serve at the Beckley Dream Center, Royal Family Kids Camp and Camp Saga.  He was an international winner in the Church of God senior talent competition.  He loved southern gospel music, especially the song "The Lighthouse."  He had a love for yard sales, collecting, and the movies!

He lived passionately and in his last days, though tired from fighting physically, he found freedom, joy, and much peace.  He will be remembered most for the way he showed unconditional love to everyone he knew.

He was loved by many, and his family would like nothing more than for you to celebrate his life with them at Beckley Church of God, 2211 South Kanawha St. Beckley, WV.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 6th from 5-7pm in the church gym and a Celebration Service will follow in the main church sanctuary at 7pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Salt and Life Ministry or the Beckley Dream Center, Family Worship Center.
